    Hi Ken and thank you, My TEK does not sound clear, it's a bit muffled, any advice? (I have a 14" Remo frame drum). The frame drum is my very stable, it keeps oscillating everytime i play DUM, any advice? Much appreciated. Thanks.

    • @kenshorley
      @kenshorley 5 днів тому

      Hi! I'd need to see and hear you play to be sure, but it's possible that you're holding your finger on the head of the drum a bit too long when playing Tek. Try to keep it light and bouncing. Those small Remo drums are quite light aren't they! A student of mine sometimes uses a type of rubbery material placed across their knee which can help with the unwanted movement of the drum when playing Doum. Hope this helps!

      Hi! My BFD (Beginner Frame Drum) course is now available if you're interested! You can find it at kenshorley.podia.com And yes it does take time to build up strength in the ring finger. When I first started, I used both middle and ring fingers together to play the Ka stroke.

  • @jedwinlo
    @jedwinlo 2 місяці тому

    Just a question: is there a difference between the 3 stroke and Pah stroke? I tried using four fingers for Pah to make it sound different because it’s how I learned it, but the muted 1 on the previous pulse makes my hand’s movement a bit off beat. It seems that you are using three fingers for both 3 stroke and the Pah stroke. Is that usual among players or it’s only for this specific pattern only? Would love to hear your thoughts and thank you for making these great lessons online!

    • @kenshorley
      @kenshorley 2 місяці тому

      Hi! It's a subtle difference but I agree that, in this instance, it flows better to use the 3 stroke in place of a standard Pa. (Although I still use the tips of all 4 fingers to play a single Pa stroke.)
